A Brief History
Of The Delta Rho Chapter
The Delta Rho Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was officially chartered on June 16, 1956, at San Jose State University in San Jose, California. This significant event marked a milestone in the history of the university as it introduced the first African American organization to the campus community. The chartering of the chapter was overseen by Province Polemarch Thomas Bradley, with crucial guidance and support from The Gamma Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Central to the founding of the Delta Rho Chapter were its dedicated charter members: Mel Powell, Charles Hardy, Herbert Boyer, Lang Stanley, and Don Philips Sr. These pioneering individuals laid the groundwork for what would become a lasting legacy at San Jose State University.
